Virginia Morgan Gillentine

Mooreville- Virginia Morgan Gillentine, 88, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on Thursday April 20, 2017 while at the North Mississippi Medical Center, Hospice. She was born on September 12, 1928 to Joseph Whewell and Jewel Stevens Morgan in Lee County in the Auburn community. She married the love of her life, Arvis Jackson Gillentine, on Christmas Eve 1944 and they were married nearly 70 years. She graduated from Mooreville High School with the honor of Valedictorian. She worked in the banking industry over 50 years before retiring when her first great-grandchild was born. She was lovingly called "Granny" by her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, family and friends. After her adoring husband passed away in 2014, she went to live at Avonlea Assisted Living where she made wonderful friends with the residents and very special staff members. Her entire life was devoted to her family; no matter her condition, she always put the needs of others before her own. She was a member of Mooreville United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years and she gladly served wherever she was needed.

She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, servitude and generosity. She passed on her love for her savior, Jesus Christ, to her family for which they are eternally grateful. She will be remembered and missed greatly by her family and friends.

Her spirit is carried on by her daughters, Sandra Gillentine Ballard (Dan) and Sheila Gillentine Jenkins (Barry) both of Tupelo; four granddaughters, Camille Brown Dixon (Jim) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Carrie Brown Thomas (Britt) of Cumming, Georgia, Brandi Bass Henley (Wade) and Anna Katherine Webb both of Tupelo; one grandson, Joshua Jenkins of Tupelo; eight great-grandchildren, Paxton and Elisa Dixon, Emma and Aubrey Thomas, Chase, Gracie, Hunter and Collin Henley; special nieces, Jane Patterson, Teresa Easley and Debbie Duff and nephew, Michael Gillentine; her sister-in-law, Lottie Gillentine and loving caregivers and friends, Doll Walker, Nikki Tyes, Tonya Gates, LaTonya Foster and Chawntoya Brown.

Virginia was reunited with her husband, Arvis Gillentine; parents, Whewell and Jewell Morgan; brother, Clyde Morgan; special sister-in-law, Opal Morgan; brother-in-law, Crafton Gillentine; her in-laws, Willie and Ireda Gillentine and two sons-in-law, Lawrence Newton Brown, II and Steve Carl Bass.
