TOM SWINDOL

Tupelo - Oscar Thomas Swindol, 88, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, at The Meadows. He was born August 27, 1927, in Shannon. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and later in the Army National Guard. Tom worked at TVA for 39 years until his retirement. He was a past Master of the Tupelo Masonic Lodge #318 where he was Tyler for years and known as "Tom the Tyler". He was past Presiding Officer of the Tupelo York Rite and past Worthy Patron of the Tupelo Eastern Star. Tom was known for trading various items and loved his cats. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include children, Terry Swindol (Karen) of Tupelo and Vicki Glosson (Duane) of Arizona; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nora Swindol.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Roger Puhr and his grandson, Rev. Tommy Swindol officiating with Masonic Rites to follow. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Will Pugh, James Spivey, William Doster, Dale Fikes and Brad Tate and grandson, Gage Harris.
