    Thomas Mize, Sr.

    February 9, 1937 - January 20, 2017

    Thomas Mize, Sr.   Tupelo - Thomas Duane Mize, Sr., 79, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, at his home. He was born February 9, 1937, to Bennie and Eva Mize. Thomas served his country in the United States Army as a medic for three years. He worked at J and B Services as a trailer mechanic for the last 12 years. He was a former member of the Civitan Club. Thomas was a hard worker and a wonderful man who was loved by many. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.   Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Nannette Mize of Tupelo; children, Thomas Mize, Jr. (Lynn), Judy Reynolds (Gayle), Brenda Wiygul (Al) and Jeff Butler (Jan); sisters, Mary Gregory and Annette Koehn; sister-in-law, Brenda Mize; grandchildren, Maegan Nadine Mize, Kim and Daniel Precise, Lori and David Estes, Amber and Kyle Strong, Joy and Jared White and Jill and Chaz Akers; great-grandchildren, Tonie Funderburk, Alexis Funderburk, Jordan Wiygul, Jake Wiygul, Lana White, Aidan Strong and Ava White and great-great-grandchildren, Harleigh Sartain, Cheyenne Funderburk and Charlie Brooke Funderburk.   He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Nadine Mize; brothers, Zane and Curt Mize and brothers-in-law, Travis Gregory and Marvin Koehn.   Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with visitation from 12 p.m. until service time. Rev. Ronnie Goodwin will be officiating and burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.   Pallbearers will be Phil Goldsmith, Jake Wiygul, Jordan Wiygul, Kyle Strong, Chaz Akers and Jared White.   Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sanctuary Sunday school class.   Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 45 Reynolds Road, Mantachie, MS 38855.   Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com.
