Terry M. Grubbs Sr.

Terry Mayo Grubbs Sr. passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at the North Mississippi Medical Center at the age of 68. He was born in West Point on August 14, 1954, the son of Mayo and Betty Peters Grubbs. Terry was married to Nell Irvin Grubbs and they enjoyed 30 years together before her passing. He worked as an officer for the Tupelo Police Department for several years before working at Tecumseh Products until his retirement. Terry had a deep abiding faith and spent many hours in Bible study and in preparation to teach his Sunday School class at Doty Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed gardening, hunting, and watching NASCAR. His priority was staying connected with his family as he checked on them daily.
Terry leaves behind two daughters, Tracye Nance and husband, Brian, of Tupelo, Jennifer Craft and husband, Alex, of Pensacola, Florida; two sons, Anthony Knight and wife, Teresa of Blue Springs and John Knight of Mooreville; five grandchildren, Bailey and Tanner Nance, Landon, Lindley, and Evan Knight; a brother, Randy Grubbs and wife, Trish of Shannon; uncles, F.T. Grubbs of Tyrone, Georgia and Jerry Grubbs of Shannon; aunt, Shirley Hawkins of Nettleton; and special friends, Jan Weeks and Angie Garrett.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nell; his son, Terry Grubbs Jr., and a brother, Rickey Grubbs.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Doty Chapel Baptist Church. Services honoring Terry’s memory will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the church with Bro. Steve Paul officiating. Burial will follow in Doty Chapel Cemetery. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Barry Garrett, Donald Keith, Bennie Grubbs, Brad Gilmore, Larry Patterson, and Jamey Burrow. Danny Hamblin, Dr. Bill Mason, and Terry’s Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Doty Chapel Baptist Church.
