SYBIL WITT EDWARDS
Tupelo - Sybil Witt Edwards, 88, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 4, 1928, to William Shelby and Ruby Ridings Witt. She graduated from Mooreville High School and worked on the assembly line at Delta International until retirement. Sybil was a feisty lady who loved to make people laugh. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed "feeding folks". In 1983, she married Leon Edwards, and they enjoyed fishing and camping. Sybil had a green thumb, could make anything grow, and loved flowers. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a Christian and was a member of Andrew's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Leon Edwards of Tupelo; daughter, Gayle Hillhouse (Joe) of Plantersville; son, Mike Bass (Wanda) of The Villages, Florida; grandchildren, Melanie Henderson (David) of Hernando, Emily Smith (Jake) of Nashville, Tennessee, Chris Bass (Kristy) Southlake, Texas, Tim Bass (Melissa) of Cape Canaveral, Florida; great-grandchildren, Ivy Henderson, D.J. Henderson, Joe Dylan Smith, Caiden Smith, Shelby Smith, Addison Smith, Connor Bass and Charles Bass.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Ercelle Witt.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Robert McCoy and Rev. Sammy Washburn officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park .
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tim Bass, Chris Bass, David Henderson and Jake Smith, and great-grandsons, Joe Dylan Smith and D.J. Henderson.
