SARAH DYE
Saltillo - Sarah Dye, 91, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born in Roanoke, Alabama May 15, 1925, to Escar Lincoln and Sarah Felisha Gross Carden. She was raised in Roanoke and finished high school in Mill Town, Alabama. After high school, Sarah went to nursing school in Birmingham, Alabama. Upon completion of her nursing education, she moved to Memphis where she began her nursing career that spanned almost 50 years. Her career started with the Veterans Hospital, and it culminated with St. Joseph's Hospital, where she retired a number of years ago. She moved to Saltillo several years after retirement and became an active member of Saltillo First United Methodist Church.  Sarah loved traveling, reading, sewing, spending time with her family and doting over her faithful and beloved dog, Josie.
Survivors include her children, Suzanne Thomas (Bob) of Saltillo, Greg Dye (Kim) of Saltillo and Connie Ward of Hernando; 7 grandchildren, Rob Thomas, Amy Thomas, Matt Thomas, Owen Dye, Darin Ward, Brad Ward and Gwen Arps; special family members, Tammy McCollin, Kori Thomas, Vanessa Robbins, and Jeff Rice; special caregiver, Melissa Garrett; special friends from her apartment complex where she resided for the past 26 years; and her church family.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with visitation starting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Tim Green will be officiating the service and burial will be in Sherman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Own Dye, Rob Thomas, Matt Thomas, Darin Ward, Brad Ward, Jeff Rice and Austin Burton.
