Obituary for S. Leah Arnold Tupelo--Sarah Leah Arnold, 93, went to be with her Lord on November 12 at AvonLea in Tupelo. A Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, she was born January 3, 1918, to the late Joseph P. Stiteler and Caroline L. Egner Stiteler. She graduated from Kensington High School and attended nursing school at Lankenau, both in Philadelphia. She was married to the late J. Ross Arnold for 64 years and faithfully served him and their children as Ross career took them from Philadelphia to Buffalo, New York; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Birmingham, Alabama; Sao Paulo, Brasil; Chicago, Illinois; Houston, Texas; and Atlanta, Georgia, before coming to Tupelo in 1974. She was a member of Lawndale Presbyterian Church and is grateful that the Lord allowed her to walk with Him all the days of her life. She also belonged to the FMC Retirees, the Mississippi Antique Car Club, as was a former member of the All-America City Garden Club. She volunteered at the North Mississippi Medical Center for 31 years. Survivors include a brother, Paul Stiteler, and sister, Martha Sue Marsteller, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two sons, Ross D. Arnold and wife, Faye, of Greer, South Carolina, and J. Fred Arnold and wife, Karen, of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter, Beth Petersen, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 9 and 8/9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, son-in-law Arthur S. Petersen, and grandson Michael Arnold. Burial will be at a later date at Dillsburg Cemetery in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Lawndale Presbyterian Church, 1500 Lawndale Drive, Tupelo, MS 38801. Visitation will be at Lawndale Presbyterian Church at 1 pm on Saturday, November 19, followed by a memorial celebration service at 2 pm. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
