Belmont - Paul R. Smith, 75, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at North Mississippi Medical Center after battling a long-term illness. He was born February 4, 1942 to Roy and Cleo Lena Smith in Belgreen, Alabama.
Paul moved with his family to Florida at a young age, where he graduated from Oviedo High School. He worked at Gates Rubber Co. in Red Bay, Alabama until his retirement. Paul was known for his sense of humor as well as being a gifted musician who excelled at guitar and piano. He really enjoyed playing music with his brothers and sons.
Paul is survived by his wife, Heather Dawn Smith; three sons, Paul Raburn Smith, Jr. (Debbie) of Lynchburg, Tenn., Bryan Keith Smith of Bay Springs and Ben Smith of Belmont; five grandchildren, Gage, Kase, Kristen, Kyle and Raben; three great-grandchildren, Kurt, Owen and Olivia; two step-sons, Jimmy Crabtree and Jeff Fore; two brothers, Billy Ray Smith of Houston, Texas and Jeff M. Smith of Iuka; two sisters, Linda Gillett of Virginia and Wanda Perkins of Florida; and many loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Angela and brother, Roy, Jr., James, Bobby and John Smith.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
