Obituary for Murial Black Verona - Murial Ford Black, 89, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born May 5, 1922, in McCrory, Arkansas to John Thomas and Eileen Pickett Ford. She was a graduate of Hillman High School in McCrory, Ark. A former resident of Indio, California for 22 years, she has lived in Verona since 1977. She worked as a seamstress in the garment industry and enjoyed sewing. At the age of 75, she became very proficient at cross stitching. She enjoyed spending time with her great-grandson and her family who looked as their foundation. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Verona. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Verona with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. A family graveside service will be held in Woodman of the World Cemetery in McCrory, Ark. at a later date. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Black Randolph of Tupelo; her granddaughter, Amy Randolph Hester; and a great-grandson, William Chance Randolph; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Michael Wayne Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, James Edward Black; two brothers, Charles Ford, William Leon Ford; and three sisters, Tolise Davenport, Betty Matthews and Pallie Mae Ford. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 1900 Dunbarton Drive, Suite 1, Jackson, MS 39216
