Mary Ellen Brown Mooreville - Mary Ellen Brown, 95, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Sanctuary Hospice after a lengthy illness. She was born November 7, 1921, in Vernon, Alabama to James Knox Taylor and Lonnie D. Hawkins Taylor. Mary Ellen was married over 50 years to Eldridge H. Brown until his passing August 5, 1998. She was a longtime resident of Mooreville and had worked a number of years with the Community Development Foundation. Mary Ellen was the oldest member of Mooreville United Methodist Church, where she was the church organist/pianist. She loved cooking but also enjoyed eating out. Earlier in her life she was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning and freezing her harvest. Survivors include her two sons, H. Wayne Brown (Carolyn) of Saltillo and Ronnie Brown (Sallie) of Saltillo; four grandchildren, Ronald Brown, Jr. (Tonya) of Saltillo, Sherrie Keith (Jerry Lee) of Palmetto, Misty Bradley (Corey) of Villa Ridge, Missouri and Christy Sumrall (Chris) of Calhoun City; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley Keith, Alex Keith, Adam Keith, Austin Brown, Anna Grace Brown, Gus Bradley, Lilly Kate Bradley and Presley Anne Bradley Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Sammy Washburn and Rev. Eric Sanford officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harold Hood, David Lundy, Bill Pickens, Ronald Brown, Jr. and Alex Keith. Honorary pallbearers will be the W.M.U ladies of Mooreville United Methodist Charge.
