MARTHA ESTES GORDON Okolona - (1946 - 2015) Martha Ann Estes Gordon, 69, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015. She was born July 27, 1946, to Walter Herman and Ocie Marie Estes. A school teacher at Okolona High School, she loved politics, playing the piano, and traveling. She was a member of Okolona First Baptist Church, the Lanier Club, and The Chuquatonchee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of The Mississippi Democratic Executive Committee, Okolona School Board, Itawamba Community College Board of Trustees, and Okolona Chamber of Commerce. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Okolona First Baptist Church with Dr. Roy McHenry officiating and eulogy by Dr. David Cole. A graveside service will follow at Shannon Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. She is survived by her daughters, Natalie Rutledge (Ed) of Atlanta, Georgia, Kim Gordon of Houston and Leigh Carole Mullins (Brian) of Oxford; six grandchildren, Beau, Ann Marie, Will, Rex, John Harris and Nathan; sister, Sarah Earnest of Nettleton; brother, John Estes (Lynn) of Shannon and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ocie Estes; husband, Carl Jackson Gordon, Jr.; grandson, Robert Jackson Mullins. Honorary pallbearers will be her former students from Okolona High School. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Okolona First Baptist Church.
