MARLENE SCOTT

Tupelo -Marlene Scott, 80, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Golden Living Center. She was born in Danville, Illinois February 13, 1935, to Daniel Webster and Nellie Jenkins Schlunaker. She married Virgil Scott in 1954 and together they lived in Danville, Illinois, Tyler, Texas and in North Mississippi. Ruth enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking and sewing, but she most loved spending time with her family and her little dog, Lady. Marlene was a member of Selman City Christian Church in Overton, Texas.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2016, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Russell Trimm and Rev. Wayne Trimm officiating. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery on Birmingham Ridge.

Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth Whitaker (Buddy) of Okolona; son, Steven Scott (Jerri Johnson) of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren, Steven Whitaker (LeeAnn) of Saltillo, Emily Scott Underwood (Chad) of Tyler, Texas and Rhonda Kelly (Jake) of Mooreville; great-grandchildren, Melody, Shae, Destiny, Kirstein, Matthew, Austin and Zachery; great-great-grandchildren, Lily, Dazy, Emma Kate, Jayden, Aubrey and Kinsley; sisters, Sue Hoffman of Danville, Illinois, Linda Onley and Judith Hillard of Tyler, Texas; brothers, Larry Schlunaker of Danville, Illinois and Thomas Schlunaker of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jerry and Robert Schlunaker; daughter, Catherine Ruth Scott and grandsons, Matthew Scott and Buddy Whitaker, Jr.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Mike Harris, Sammy and Matt Scott, Harris and Jody Hampton, Jon Trimm, Farris Keith, Nathan Melton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Scott, Rodney Scott and Skip Alfreds.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
