MAE BISHOP

Tupelo - Mae Marie Kingsley Bishop, 92, lifelong Lee County resident, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the Greenhouses at Traceway Retirement Community. Born and raised in the Auburn Community, she was born October 31, 1923, to Robert "Bob" Kingsley and Callie Christian Kingsley. She retired after 32 years having worked for Blue Bell, Milam, and Hunter and Sadler manufacturing companies, and had also worked as a sales associate with Sears. She and her husband, Roswell, co-founded Bishop's Flower Shop on East Main Street in Tupelo, later expanding into the floral and craft wholesale business. Mae was a longtime member of East Main Church of Christ.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Ministers Robert Kingsley, Troy McNutt, and Gary Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include one son, Scotty Bishop (Wanda) of the Auburn Community; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Bishop of Mooreville; four grandchildren, Andy, B. J. and Barrett Bishop, and Pamela "Sissy" McMickin (Sean); seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Bishop, Haley Bishop, Dakota Bishop, Shauna McMickin, Jalie Bishop, Sydney McMickin, and Dixon Bishop; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roswell Bishop who died December 3, 1988; one son, Dillian Bishop who died February 27, 2012, one grandson, Ivy Bishop who died April 28, 2014; two sisters, Virgie Nichols and her husband, H. D, and Verna Helms and her husband, Leroy.; three brothers, Marlin Kingsley and his wife, Loraine, Guy Kingsley and his wife, Jewel, and J. R. Kingsley and his wife Kate.

Her grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
