Obituary for Lucy Boyd AL - Louise Lucy Boyd, 78, died Thursday, August 25, 2011, at her residence in Rogersville, Alabama. She was born in Shannon on April 28, 1933 to Homer and Janie Clark Childers. She was a member of Good Springs Baptist Church in Rogersville. She loved her gardening, flowers, crocheting and being surrounded by her family and friends. Services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues in Tupelo with Rev. Truman Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in Shannon. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Tate of Rogersville, AL; two sisters, Mary G. Barnes of Shannon and Mable K. Wilson (Cecil) of Amory; two grandchildren, Joseph Boyd (Crissy) and Carma Boyd, both of Athens, AL; two great grandchildren, Makayla Cox and Cali Boyd; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jospeh W. Boyd in 1998; her parents; her brother, Romie Lagrone Childers; her sister, Annie Lee Childers Pettigrew. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Barnes, Shane Wilson, Jerry Langford, Wayne Woods, Chris Roden and Jospeh Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Thorne and Jerry Rakestraw. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the funeral home.
