LORENE MONTGOMERY
Mooreville - Lorene L. Hood Montgomery, 88, died at her home on January 28, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born December 1, 1927, in Fulton and lived almost all of her life in northeast Mississippi.
Lorene was a longtime member of Union Grove Church and was passionate about studying the Lord's word and reading her Bible every day. She loved gardening and had a green thumb when it came to growing all kinds of plants and flowers. A wonderful self-taught cook, she enjoyed making dishes for friends and family. She was also an avid doll collector.
Lorene is survived by her son, Ralph A. Montgomery; three daughters, Carolyn M. Parrish, Judy M. Bruce and Penny R. Montgomery, all of Mooreville; one grandson, Nicholas S. Witt and his wife, Debra of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Wayne Hood of Plantersville; one sister, Odell H. Franks of Tupelo; and a sister-in-law, Doris Hood of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Loren A. Montgomery; three sisters, Ruple H. Grimes, Olene H. Bell and Radar H. Keith; two brothers, Haskell Hood and Eugene Hood.
Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 29 at W. E. Pegues Funeral Home in Tupelo.
Funeral services will be held at Union Grove Church in Mooreville, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from noon until start of service.
Pallbearers will include Jeremy Martin, Steven Rayburn, Danny Martin, Eddie Harris, Carlton Green and Paul Green.
Honorary pallbearers include Barry Hood, Eldon Grimes, Richard Hood, Crafton Laney, Jerry Grimes, Benson Bell and Jimmy Bell.
