Obituary for Kate Kingsley Tupelo - Kate Kingsley, 97, left this life for a much greater life, for which she lived her whole life. She was born to Robert and Mollie Lummus in Lee County, in the Eggville Community. She resided in Lee County all her life except for a brief time in Arizona. She worked at a public job some, way back in the days of the Great Depression, but she spent the big majority of her life as a dear housewife and splendid homemaker. She was a self taught artist, painting very life like portraits and beautiful scenery. She was a charter member of the East Main Church of Christ in Tupelo and was lovingly faithful to her Lord. She was a great example to everyone. To know her was to love her. She was affectionately known as Mama Kate to everyone. Services in loving memory of Mama Kate will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 at the East Main Church of Christ in Tupelo with the Bro. Gary Williams and Bro. Robert Kingsley officiating. Her oldest grandson, Eddie McCaskill will give a loving eulogy. Burial will be at Crossroads Christian Church Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors includes, one daughter, Jane McCaskill (Grady) of Saltillo; one son, Robert Kingsley (Betty) of Pontotoc; one sister, Marie Cate (James) of Springville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. R. Kingsley in 1992; her daughter, Brenda Nichols; two sisters, Nannie Lou Barber and Bobbie Rhudy; two grandchildren, Sherry McCaskill and Karen McCaskill. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Eddie McCaskill, Terry Kingsley, Randy Kingsley, Todd Nichols, Brad Nichols, Kent Nichols and Grandson-in-law, Neal Crabb. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2012, at the funeral home, and continued one hour prior to service time on Monday at the Church.
