Tupelo- Karen Marie Ellington Asbury, 82, died Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center. Karen was born November 1, 1940, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of John Q “Jack” Ellington and Veola Hyde Ellington. Karen had a servant’s heart, serving alongside her husband The Rev. Gene Asbury. She enjoyed in her early years traveling to Honduras for mission trips. Karen and her husband were founders of the Saints’ Brew breakfast ministry, which is still in operation and feeds hundreds of people in need each week. Karen also participated in the life of the church by serving on Altar Guild, the Servant Ministry Team, and as an usher and office volunteer. She was also an active member of the Gumtree Quilters Guild.

Karen is survived by her sons, David Asbury and his wife, Lynne Chapman of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and John Asbury and his wife, Claire Joneth of Asheville, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Blain and Devon Asbury; and one sister, Elisa Naro of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Viola Ellington; and her husband, The Rev. Gene Asbury.

Services honoring Karen’s life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at All Saints' Episcopal Church.
