Obituary for Julis "Bud" Spann Tupelo - Julius V. Bud Spann, 67, died Monday, August 15, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born January 15, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee to Julius V. Spann and Annie B. Monaghan Spann. He graduated from Central High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and then attended The University of Mississippi. While there, he served with the ROTC. After college, he joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam Conflict as a 1st Lieutenant. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, The Silver Star, The Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He worked for the Mississippi Highway Department. He retired from the University of Mississippi. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Natchez Trace Golf Club. Graveside services with military honors will be 1 p.m., August 17, 2011 at Tupelo Memorial Gardens. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his brother, William "Bill" Watts; special cousins, Jean Christian and Ray Monaghan; many other cousins.
