Joan Hardy

JOAN HARDY   New Albany - Joan Margaret Hardy, 95, died Monday, February 8, 2016 at New Albany Health and Rehab. She was born in Cambridge, Mass. to Stephen S. and Lillian Whitney Shea on November 9, 1920, the sixth of eight children.   In 1955, Joan and her husband, William F. Hardy, Jr., moved to California where they raised their family. Joan was a homemaker who enjoyed all holidays, music and gardening. In 2011, she came to live with her daughter's family in Blue Springs where she remained until failing health forced her to move to New Albany Health and Rehab.   She was preceded in death by her parents, all siblings, husband of 50 years, William F. Hardy, Jr. She is survived by her children, Susan Hardy-Whittington (Carl) of Blue Springs, William F. Hardy, III (Pam) of California and Ellen Wilkinson (William) of New York; grandchildren, Tara, Lily, Bill, Becky, Bobby and Olivia; one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.   The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of New Albany Health and Rehab and a special thank you to the staff and caregivers of Sanctuary Hospice House.   A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date.   Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
