Jimmy L. "Bom Bom" Houston

June 25, 1935 — February 3, 2019

Saltillo - Jimmy Leland Houston, 83, surrounded by his family, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019. A lifelong native of Lee County, he was born June 25, 1935 to Swift Bobo Houston and Maudie Mae McMurray Houston in Tupelo. He married the love of his life, Mary E. "Tink" Mears, 66 years ago and together they were blessed with one son, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. After 50 years of employment, Jimmy retired from Blue Bell / Wrangler Trucking as a Logistics Operation Manager. Jimmy had a passion for the outdoors and hunting, especially quail and dove, and he loved to fish.  He was a trade expert with bartering skills many would envy.  He was known for "wheeling and dealing" and his mechanic works on his Volkswagens. Jimmy never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.  His charm and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Oak Hill Methodist Church.

Survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Houston; son, Don Houston and his wife, Jan of Saltillo; his brother, Ken Houston and his wife, Pat of Saltillo; his grandaugter, Dawn Parker and her husband, Andy of Saltillo; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Shelby Parker, both of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Swift and Maudie Houston; and one brother, Jerry Houston.
