JESSIE MAE BAGGETT

Tupelo - Jessie Mae Baggett went to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday, October 27, 2016, after an extended illness, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Collierville, Tennessee of April 28, 1926, to Earnest and Maggie Harris Pryor. She married the love of her life, R.C. Baggett, on October 24, 1959. They moved to Verona in 1964 from Selmer, Tennessee, then later moved to Nettleton where they lived for more than 30 years.

Jessie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Jessie was first and foremost a faithful follower of Christ. She was a member of Cason Baptist Church. Her legacy was her unwavering desire to serve God through prayer and to know His word. She was retired from Arvin Industries in Verona.

A celebration of Jessie's life and home going will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with visitation from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday. Rev. Shane Crawford and Rev. Tim Tutor will be officiating the service and burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include daughters, Billie Sue Godfrey (Gene) of Verona and Diane Thompson (Charles) of Tupelo; sons, Gordon Hardy (Judy) of Suprise, Arizona, Bobby Carruthers (Carolyn) of Pontotoc and Charles Carruthers (Linda) of Belden; sisters, Daisy Graham (Dean) of Southaven and Dorothy Stone (Jack) of Horn Lake; brothers, Raymond Joyner (Jamie) of Sardis, Frank Joyner of Grenada, Jimmy Hugh Joyner (Brenda) of Nesbit, David Joyner of Olive Branch, Billy Joyner (Mary) of Walnut, Guy Joyner (Frances) of Faulkner; grandchildren, Tina Workman, Shanua Garwood, Jimmy King, Greta Bourbeau, Stephanie Kitchens and Melody Gray; great-grandchildren, Sara, Hannah, James Jr., Travis, Jason, Bobby, Brantley, Lauren, Holly, Juliet, Jack, Reid, Jennings, Saige and Sienna; great-great-grandchildren, Preston, Zach, Rhody and Rayland; dear friend, Mavelene Starling of Smithville and very special friend, Carol Strickland of Tallahassee, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, R. C. Baggett; daughter, Mary King; granddaughters, Beth Godfrey and Cherry Ray; grandson, James Hardy; brothers, Elgin Joyner and Curtis Neal Joyner and sister, Frances Howell.

Pallbearers will be Jason King, Reid Kitchens, Chuck King, Keith Gray, Kirk Kitchens and Alan Sudduth.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby King, Tim Joyner and Billy Graham.
