Obituary for Jessie Harris Mooreville - Jessie Harris, 86, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born June 8, 1925 to James Nathan and Lela Gertrude Smith Griffin. During her working career, she worked for Keith's Hatchery for 22 years, Reed Manufacturing, and Hardin's Bakery. She enjoyed cooking for her large family, gardening, quilting, reading Westerns and watching her birds and squirrels in her yard. She was a Baptist. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Survivors include six daughters, Ruth Harris of Savannah, Tenn., Shirley Sanders of Eggville, Patsy Cortez (Gil) of Savannah, Tenn., Arvy Powell (Charles "Bubba") of New Albany, Linda Childers of Eggville, Donna Rodgers (Jerry) of Ballardsville; her son, Doyle Harris (Tina) of Blue Springs; one sister, Kathy Raper (Edward) of Skyline; one brother, Joe Griffin of Florida; special friend, Carolyn Keith of Fulton; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin L. Harris who died May 21,1982; five sisters, one brother, and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Trae Rodgers, Ty Sanders, Tim Brock, Bart Smith, Lafayette Wright, and Curtis Brock. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The Sanctuary Hospice House, PO Box 2177, Tupelo MS 38803.
