James H. "Jimmy" Clifton, Jr.

Iuka - James Henry "Jimmy" Clifton, Jr., 87, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at his residence. On February 21, 1931, he was born to James Henry Clifton and Evelyn Lemons in Pontotoc. He graduated from Pontotoc High School and attended Holmes Junior College and Ole Miss. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Annette Scruggs Clifton, and together they shared one daughter and two sons. In Jimmy's early career, he was a crop duster with Farmers Flying Service and later worked for Northern Border Pipeline until his retirement. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and his beloved cats. He was a member of Iuka Church of Christ and a former member of Eggville Church of Christ.
Survivors include his daughter, Anita Wolf (Lee) of Guntown; his son, Charles Clifton (Shannon) of the Auburn Community; his daughter- in-law, Michelle Clifton of Mooreville; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Annette Clifton; his parents, J. H. Clifton and Evelyn Clifton; son, James H. "Clif" Clifton III, and great-granddaughter, Noel Acevedo.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring his life will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Minister Lance Foster officiating. Graveside services will follow in Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Mike Clifton, Matt McMahon, Brooks Crabtree, Ethyn English, Austin Richey, Alex Acevedo, Seth Weaver, and Larry Sherrill.
Honorary pallbearer will be Noah Timmons.
Memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101 and Pine Vale Children's Home, 1872 County Road 700, Corinth, MS 38834.
