I.B. Davis
Belden - Irving "I. B." Davis, 100, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Countrywood Manor in Mantachie. He was born in Batesville, August 15, 1916, to Ashton and Minnie Christian Davis. I. B. served with distinction in WWII as a Tech Sergeant with the 1st Division, Co. A, 26th Infantry. He took part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy on Utah Beach, the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge, Northern France and Germany. He earned the C.I.B., Good Conduct medal, WWII Victory medal, the European Theater ribbon with 4 Bronze stars and a Bronze Arrowhead. He served from 1943-1946 when he was honorably discharged. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. I. B. enjoyed golf and was a very talented and successful wine maker even raising his own fruits. He was a customer service representative for Greyhound Transportation where he retired after many years of service.
Survivors include his caregiver and special great-niece, Renee Dulaney (Wayne) of Belden; brother, Robert Davis (Josephine) of Bissel; two nieces and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law James Vernon and Mary Jane Davis; niece, Katherine Lovette; and nephew, James Floyd Davis.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be at 11 a.m. at the Belden Cemetery with David Layman, of Camillia Hospice, officiating.
