Geraldean Franklin Monaghan

June 14, 1933 — March 22, 2019

Tupelo- Geraldean Franklin Monaghan, 85, died Friday, March 22, 2019 in Tupelo after a sudden illness. She was born in Tupelo, June 14, 1933 to Robert Walter and Dollie Gean Franklin and was a 1951 graduate of Tupelo High School. She was a devoted member of Gloster Street Church of Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for both Community Federal Bank and Bancorpsouth. She carried on her parents’ generous spirit through many years of service work in the Tupelo area. She spent the last 14 years of her life volunteering at Sanctuary Hospice House and the Jail Missionary Program through her church. In 2013 she received Jefferson Award.

Survivors include daughter, Ellen Reed and her husband, Shelby of Tupelo; two sons, Jeff Monaghan of Tupelo, Randy Monaghan and his wife, Teresa of Flowood; four grandchildren, Kelly Dismuke and her husband, Caleb of Flowood, Brian Monaghan and his wife, Nikki of Flowood, Anna Miles and her husband, Travis of Tupelo and Bo Reed of Tupelo; great-grandchild, Ella Dismuke; two sisters, Hazel Street of Tupelo, Virginia Miller of Tupelo; and brother, Hassell Franklin of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Randall Monaghan; sister, Dot Causey; and brother, Herschel Franklin.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. until service time Sunday, March 24, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring her life will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Minister Chad Ramsey officiating. Graveside services will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Mark Frankiln, Hank Franklin, Drew Miller, Stewart Sanders, Daniel Monaghan, Steve Monaghan, Bob Shumpert, and Ronald Reed.

Services will be live streamed at recorded for those who may not be able to attend at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
