Obituary for Gene Pavone Tupelo - Eugene Anthony "Gene" Pavone, 87, died Friday, January 20, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. A native of Chicago, Ill., he was born January 17, 1925, to James and Emmanuela Marrone Pavone. He served in the US Army during World War II under General George Patton. He graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in business. A resident of Tupelo for the past 37 years, he transferred to the area with FMC in 1974, where he worked as company comptroller. He was a past president of the National Association of Accountants, a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 2131, and a member of the American Legion Post 49. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and enjoyed vacationing with his wife, Florence, in Naples, Fla. More than anything he enjoyed his three girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2012, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Tom Lalor officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Flo Pavone of Tupelo, MS; three daughters, Diane Adamo (Clifford) of Darien, Ill., Denise Russell of Odenville, Ala., and Debbie Stevens of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Peter Adamo (Beth) of Downers Grove, Ill, Brandon Herring (Kristen) of Pelham, Ala., Jennifer Laudadio (Nicolas) of Chicago, Niki Kennedy (Shawn) of Tupelo, and Matthew Stevens (Darby) of New Orleans, La.; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Nicolas, Emily, and Ashley Adamo and Sarah Francis Herring, Evan Kennedy, and Georgia Claire Stevens; two sisters, Gilda Krynski of Downers Grove, Ill. and Evelyn Gentilini (Dino) of La Mesa, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ida Molinare. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Brandon Herring, Matthew Stevens, Niki Kennedy, Peter Adamo, and Jennifer Laudadio. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A vigil for the deceased will follow.
