Tupelo - Freda H. Meek, 74, died Monday, May 13, 2019, at her daughter's residence in Hernando. A native of Tupelo, she was born in January 1, 1945, to Cordie Lee and Iva Lee Scruggs Hill. For over 20 years, she worked as a bookkeeper/accountant at the Church of Holy Communion in Memphis, but since returning to Tupelo, she worked as a cashier at Save-A-Lot and Palmers Grocery Store before retiring and moving in with her daughter. She was a member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Meek-Carter of Hernando and her husband, Tyrone Sanders of Hernando; four grandchildren, Tyson Meek and his wife, Krysta of Pontotoc, Callie Henderson of Lake Norman, North Carolina, Aaron Meek and his wife, Kristen of Tupelo and Caroline Rines and her husband, Waylon of Smithville; and sister, Sarah Ann Turner of Mantachie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years, Tommy Meek; and son, Alan Meek who died in 2016.
Services will be private.
