Obituary for Fred Wiygul Skyline - Fred N. Wiygul, 90, died Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. An Itawamba County native, he was born August 8, 1921, to Ephriam H. and May Shumpert Wiygul. In 1938, he graduated from Verona High School as Valedictorian and then attended Itawamba Junior College. During World War II he served in the U.S.Army Air Corps as an aircraft mechanic. A longtime resident of the Skyline Community, he worked as a electrician, farmer, and tractor mechanic. He loved going to church at Allens Chapel United Methodist Church and enjoyed going to eat with family and friends. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2011, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Sammy Washburn and Rev. Hershel Wiygul officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. Survivors include special friends and caregivers, Jeff and Jane Cockrell of Mooreville; nieces and nephews, Julia Long Puckett, Bill Long, Martha Ann Long Putman, Guy Mattox Long, Anna Long Humber, Phillip Long, and Ruth Long. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Long Wiygul who died in 2003; and his sister, Elizabeth Wiygul Long. Pallbearers Bud Coley, David Lundy, Gene Walters, Jerry Roberts, David Springer, and Tommy Putman Honorary Pallbearers will be Cecil Payne, Woody Turner, Terry Turner, Ken Clayton, and James Barnes. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Allens Chapel United Methodist Church, C/O Joyce Loftin, 186 Road 1310, Tupelo MS 38804.
