Obituary for Eugene Christian Tupelo - Eugene Delano Ed Christian, 75, died Saturday, October 29, 2011, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born February 12, 1936 to Thomas Marlow and Virginia Stokes Christian. He was a veteran of The United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He worked many years with both Tupelo Body Shop and Roper Toyoto. The last few years he was self-employed and owned and operated Christian Body Shop. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the American Legion, Post 49 for twenty-five years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed wood working and donated many hours to his church, community and friends. He was a historian of the local Native Americans and wrote many articles that were published in the Daily Journal. Services with military honors will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David MacKain officiating. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Bobbie Ellis Christian of Tupelo; three sons, Kevin Eugene Christian (Cheryl) of Tupelo, Michael Allen Christian (Elizabeth) of Mantachie and Stephen Matthew Christian of Tupelo; one daughter, Angeleah Dupre (Darrell) of League City, Texas; 14 grandchildren, Andrew, Ian, and Cameron Christian, John and Caleb Palmer, Courtney and Chelsie Christian, Erin Cantwell, Leiken Wallace, Steffan Jayne and Caine Christian; one great-grandchild, Colton Leanord; two sisters, Virginia Ingellis (Fred) of Tupelo and Frances Mitchell of Eggville; one brother, Marlow "Buddy" Christian of Tupelo . He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2011 at the funeral home.
