Esther Baker Brown

Tupelo--Esther Blanche Baker Smith Brown, 88, of Tupelo, died Monday December 5th, 2022 of dementia. She was born to John and Hazel Baker in Fairfield, Iowa on July 15, 1934, the second of four children and the only girl. In 1951, she married Paul Ross Smith and together they had four children, Paula, Robert, Gregory, and Donna. The family moved around the Midwest for several years from changes in employers but settled in Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1980, where she remained of the rest of her life.

She was a highly successful businesswoman rising into management everywhere she worked. After acquiring Prudential Magnolia Real Estate Agency in Tupelo, she built it into the largest real estate agency in the area. Those who were employed by her found her to be very good employer, many of them saying she was the best boss they ever had.

Esther married the love of her life Kermit C. (KC) Brown in Tupelo, MS in 1994 and they had very happy marriage until KC died on October 28, 2005.

Esther is survived by her brother Norlyn Baker (Jan) of Johnston, Iowa: her children, Paula (Joseph) Innis of Amarillo, Texas, Robert (Lynne) Smith of Villa Rica, Georgia, Gregory Smith of Tupelo, and Donna Smith of Des Moines, Iowa, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Benny.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Ronald Baker of Mesa, Arizona, and Maynard Baker of Puyallup, Washington.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the arrangements.
