Obituary for Era Mae Waters Tupelo - Era Mae Waters, 92, died Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the Green Houses at Traceway after an extended illness. She was born in Ennis, Texas on November 10, 1918 to Emory Nehemiah and Brady Monaghan Griffin. She worked for the Tupelo Public Schools at Joyner Street School and the Tupelo Uniform Center. She was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. She loved to sew and was an avid cook and did her own canning. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Chuck Castles officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include one son, William Ford "Bill" Waters, Jr. (Sunny) of Belden; two daughters, Gail Castles (Chuck) of Selmer, TN and Ann Benson (Rusty) of Tupelo; one sister, Pauline Griffin Morse of Marietta, GA; eleven grandchildren, Bill Waters, III (Jennifer) of Dallas, TX, Beth Waters Eckard (Dax) of Tupelo, Becky Waters Wesley (Jonathan) of Denham Springs, LA, Henry Waters of Dallas, TX, Jonathan Castles (Nikki) of Jackson, TN, Joy Castles Case (Benjie) of Selmer, TN, Jason Castles of Jackson, TN, Jimmy Castles of Selmer, TN, Graham Benson (Peri) of Collierville, TN, Kyle Benson (Gabby) of Nashville, TN and Emory Benson Kirk (Adam) of Tupelo; eleven great-grandchildren, Massie Eckard, Addy Eckard, Aubrey Wesley, Izzie Castles, Tucker Case, Ty Case, Taylor Case, Reid Benson, Griffin Benson, Anna Grace Laird and Mattie Ruth Kirk; special niece, Pat Heege (Jim) of Baton Rouge, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Ford Waters in January of 2006; eight brothers, five sisters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. on Saturday and continue from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
