    Ellen Carter Malone

    April 11, 1933 - May 21, 2016

    Ellen Carter Malone TUPELO- Ellen Carter Malone, 83, went to be with the Lord and her loved ones Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born in New Albany, Mississippi to William Buford and Leola White Carter. She was a graduate of New Albany High School and Memphis School of Commerce. On August 10, 1952, Ellen married the love of her life, Leon Malone, a devoted marriage for 63 years. Ellen was an active and faithful member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. Affectionately known to her grandchildren as "Me-Momma", she was a kind-hearted woman of great strength and faith who shaped the spirituality of her family by her Christian example. Ellen's signature gift of joy was evident in her constant smile which will always be remembered. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Harrisburg Baptist Church with Rev. David Langerfeld officiating. There will be a private graveside service for family members at Tupelo Memorial Park.   Visitation will take place at the church from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, May 23, 2016.   She is survived by her husband, Leon Malone, of Tupelo; three daughters, Diane Malone Leopold (Bob) of Germantown, TN, Denise Malone of Collierville, TN and Dana Malone Hamblin (Bill) of Tupelo, MS; one son, David Malone (Tracy) of Tupelo, MS; five grandchildren, Lauren Leopold Wilgenbusch (Chad) of Germantown, TN, Carter Hamblin of Nashville, TN, Emory Hamblin, Rachael Malone and Ryan Malone of Tupelo, MS; and one great-grandson, Hannan Carter Wilgenbusch, of Germantown, TN; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Emily Maxine Carter; one sister, Annie Faye Carter Wicker; and two brothers, William Malcolm Carter and John Melvin Carter. Pallbearers will be William Bennett Carter, Billy Wicks Hamblin, Jr., Carter Wicks Hamblin, Bob Arthur Leopold, Ryan Scott Malone and Frank Carter Wicker. Honorary Pallbearers are Barrett Lee Carter, Christopher Arnold McCluskey and Dr. David Lynn Wicker. Memorial gifts may be given to Harrisburg Baptist Church, 4675 Cliff Gookin Blvd., Tupelo, MS, 38801 or Sanctuary Hospice House, P.O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.
