Edith Marie Henry Hutcheson
Tupelo - Edith Marie Henry Hutcheson, 89, surrounded by her family, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born January 21, 1928 to Ira Fletcher and Maggie Mattie Alabama Henry.
On June 10, 1946, Edith married Alton Brooks Hutcheson. Edith worked as a factory worker in her early career before spending 17 years as a waitress at Rex Plaza and another 17 years as a caregiver for Linda Langerfeld. She was a longtime member of Gloster Street Church of Christ. Edith was a meticulous seamstress who made all three wedding dresses in a six month period for her three daughters. She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed jewelry making.
Edith is survived by two daughters, Reah Cristadoro (Charles) of Tupelo and Rhonda Marie Howerton (Larry) of Plantersville, and a niece she raised as a daughter, Pam Henry Senter (Danny) of Nettleton; three grandchildren, Patrick Crowe (Denise) of Hamilton, Alabama, Jason Graham (Cathy) of Plantersville and Daniel R. Senter III (Sonja) of Tupelo; three step-grandchildren, Justine Cristadoro, Allysson Groom and Kenneth Cristadoro (Rona); eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Mst. Sgt. Alton Brooks Hutcheson, U. S. Army (ret.), who passed away April 28, 1969. She was the last of nine siblings (three sisters and five brothers).
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Jefferson Street Chapel with Ministers Donnie McGee and Chad Ramsey officiating. A eulogy will be given by David Langerfeld. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Charles Cristadoro, Larry Howerton, Danny Senter, Jason Graham, Jay Graham and Connor Graham.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Memorials may be made out to the Gloster Street Church of Christ Building Fund, 307 North Gloster Street Tupelo, Mississippi 38804.
