EARLINE CATES ELLIS

Tupelo - Earline Ellis, 85, went to be with the lord on Monday, December 12, 2016, at Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born September 20, 1931 to Cullen and Creasie Cates in Itawamba County. On December 5, 1953, she married T. L. Ellis, Jr. of Shannon. After working in the Verona School Cafeteria for many years, she kept multiple children, including her grandchildren, in her home until retirement. She taught each of them Biblical values, morals and respect while exhibiting the love of Christ daily. Affectionately known as "Mamaw", she enjoyed spending time with family and gardening. She served faithfully as a charter member of Old Union Baptist Church until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years, T. L. Ellis, Jr., five brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Ellis (Charlotte) of Shannon, Patsy Harris (Randy) of Shannon and Sandra Armstrong (Daniel) of Smithville; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Simmons (Charles), Matt Ellis (Bethany), Brandon Harris (Theresa), Brittany Tutor (Dustin), Misty Benson (Eric), Melanie Bennett (Scott), Laken Armstrong and Josh Armstrong; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Archie Cates (Arlene) and sister, Lola Wilburn of Mantachie.

Pallbearers will be Matt Ellis, Brandon Harris, Eric Benson, Josh Armstrong, Dustin Tutor, Charles Simmons, Kyle Simmons and Eli Simmons.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Bob O'Neal and Bro. Danny Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery of Shannon.
