Earl W. GillentineNettleton- Earl W. Gillentine, 91, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Earl was born, May 24,1925, in Mooreville to Claude and Viola Gillentine. Earl served proudly in the U.S. Army as a member of the military police. He was a bronze star recipient and served during World War II. He spent time in France, Germany, Czechoslovakia and participated in the Battle of The Bulge. After he left the Army, Earl worked for Eljer Plumbing , Arvin, and Allsteel. He also farmed all of his life until failing health. Earl loved to spend his time outdoors fishing and hunting and was an avid gardner. He was a member of Calvary Assembly Church.Survivors include his two sons, David Gillentine of Nettleton and Rodney Gillentine of Nettleton; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Hodo (Allen) of Waynseboro, Tammy Gomez (Victor) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Christy Minich (Brad) of Nettleton, Mary Timmons (Tommy) of Guntown, Kevin Layton (Michelle) of Tupelo, Cody Gillentine (Mackenzie) of Nettleton, Ryan Gillentine of Nettleton, Dylan Gillentine of Nettleton; nine great-grandchildren, David Hodo, Will Hodo, Noah Gomez, Bailey Minich, Molly Kate Minich, Jacob Timmons, Luke Timmons, Noah Timmons and Laura Layton; two step-children, John Butler and Kay Garner.He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, the mother of his children, Linnie Pearl Gillentine; his second wife Elaine Butler Gillentine; two children, Martha Pearl Layton and Robert Gillentine; one stepson, Robert Butler.Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Ben Raper officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Andrews Chapel Cemetery.Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017, at W. E.
