Obituary for Dorsey Lee "Red" Riley Nettleton - Dorsey Lee"Red" Riley, 77, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born May 31, 1934 to Bengie and Nancy Ola Smith Riley. He was retired from Rockwell Delta after 27 years of service. His friends knew him as Red, but his grandson and family knew him as Papaw. He loved spending time with his pride and joy, Parker Riley Tipton. When he was able, he enjoyed raising Blue Healer puppies. Gospel singings were a favorite past-time also. He was an avid gardener, known for his prize winning tomatoes. He loved his daffodils and taking care of them. He and his wife, Lorene, enjoyed traveling together. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Buddy Rushing officiating. Burial will be in New Chapel Cemetery. Survivors include his grandson, Parker Riley Tipton of Nettleton; special friends and caregivers Martha and Danny Tipton and Flow Smith all of Nettleton, his sisters, Vera Nell Taylor of Nettleton and Mary Etta McKinley (Sam) of Jackson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorene Riley who died in 1994; his brothers, Lunsford and Hansford Riley; and a sister, Annie Laura. Pallbearers will be Medford Knowles, John Knowles, Stevie Christian, Charles Flurry, Jimmy Carter, Jordan Smith, Danny Tipton, John Austin Taylor Honorary Pallbearers will be, Leroy Hargett, and Bobby Christian. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
