DORIS POE MONAGHAN
Saltillo - Doris Poe Monaghan, 83, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Baldwyn Nursing Home. She was born September 18, 1935, to James "Bud" and Lynell West Poe. She graduated from Shannon High School. In 1954, she married Donald Monaghan. Doris worked for Lee County Schools for most of her working life, working in the office and substitute teaching until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and camping, especially the Smokey Mountains and Colorado. Doris was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Saltillo.
Survivors include her son, Rodney Monaghan (Debra) of Saltillo; grandsons, Tommy Monaghan (Tammy) of Saltillo and James Monaghan (Dana) of Marietta; great-grandchildren, Nick, Keely and Kimber Monaghan; brother, Rev. David Poe (Billie) of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Sandy Dalton, Pat Bennett and Chad and Tina Johnson and many loved great-neices and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Judy Johnson and brother, Jimmy Poe.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with visitation from 12 p.m. until service time. Dr. Phil Ellis will be officiating the services and burial will be in Pontocola Cemetery.
