DENNIS PARHAM

Tupelo - Dennis Parham left this world to run the Streets of Gold in Heaven on January 7, 2016, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was 80 years old, born to George "Buster" Parham and Irene Franks Parham on May 25, 1935. He graduated from Mooreville High School and I.J.C. Dennis worked forty-two years at Day-Brite Lighting, where he met the love of his life, Kathryn Langley. They were married in May 1958, spending fifty-two years together.

Dennis was an active member of Auburn Baptist Church until he married and then attended East Heights Baptist Church with his wife. They were one of a few who attended classes on "How to Teach Sunday School" going through a graduation program. He then taught boys Sunday School Classes and served on many committees.

Dennis was an avid runner, totaling over 14,000 miles and winning many trophies. He coached girls softball and served as usher for Ole Miss football games for 17 years. He loved fishing and camping with family, friends and the East Heights Church group. Dennis loved his family especially the grand and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016, in The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues, with Dr. Tim Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Parham of Tupelo; three daughters, Karen Westmoreland (Phil), Donna Steele (Terry) both of Tupelo and Kristi Bennett (Mike) of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren, Tiffany Childers (Neil) of Tupelo, Tabitha Curry (Justin) of Saltillo, Rob Steele (Delia) of Tupelo, Jenna, Zack, Megan and Mikey Bennett of Florida; nine great-grandchildren, C. J. and Bailey Holcomb both of Tupelo, Tony Childers of Booneville, Kobi, Kyler, Kacyn and Kellum Curry all of Saltillo, Dominick and Oliviana Steele of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edith Heflin and Jewel Parham; six brothers, Fred, Hoyt, Douglas, Bobby, Dan, and Guy Parham; two grandchildren, Will and Cooper Bennett.

Pallbearers will be Dan Webb, Bill Colbert, Randy McCoy, Charles Lee, Buddy Curbow, and Bill Beasley.

Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2016, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
