Craig Caygle

Tupelo--Samuel Craig Caygle, affectionately known as “Papa C”, went to his Heavenly home on January 21, 2023. He was born to William Dewey and Dorothy Davis Caygle on March 1, 1960, in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Mooreville High School where he lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. He was a two-time state baseball champion (1976 and 1978) and received a basketball scholarship to Itawamba Community College. He furthered his education at the University of Mississippi where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and earned a Bachelor of Business in 1982. On September 3, 1982, he married the love of his life, Gail Kindt Caygle, “Gigi”. They were active members at The Orchard in Tupelo. Together they have enjoyed 40 wonderful years raising their two daughters and son and playing an active role with all six of their grandchildren. Craig was an avid sports lover, he spent many hours on the field as a player, coach, parent, grandparent, fan, referee, and umpire. He was proud to be a sanctioned MHSAA and MACCC sports official. Almost any conversation could lead him to baseball and often did. Baseball brought him joy even on his very last day.

The family left to honor his memory are his loving wife, Gail Kindt Caygle; three children, Misty Rigby (Brian), Corey Caygle (Chelsea), Bre Long (Tyler); six grandchildren, Riley Caygle, Briggs Rigby, Bentley Rigby, Liam Long, Shepard Long, and Barron Long; one brother, William Steve Caygle; and one sister, Sharon Caygle Young.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, William Dewey Caygle, and his mother Dorothy Davis Caygle.
