Clifton Schumpert

CLIFTON SCHUMPERT   Tupelo - Thomas Clifton Schumpert, long-time member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, 88, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Evergreen Community on June 6, 1928, to Mark and Linda Conlee Schumpert. In 1950 he married Bobbie Schumpert and they were married for 62 years until her passing. Clifton loved his wife and loved taking care of his family. He had a dedicated work ethic and retired from Lawhon School in July of 1997 as the maintenance manager. He was a faithful member of St. Mark United Methodist Church for 50 years.   Survivors include his children, Cindy Dew of Ovett, Debbie Stanford (Ken) of Tupelo and Scott Schumpert (Celisa) of Prattville, Alabama; ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife; granddaughter, Marsha Lynn Stanford and great-granddaughter, Alexis Carrisoza.   Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.   Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Scott Schumpert and Rev. Don McCain officiating. Graveside services will follow in Lee Memorial Park.   Pallbearers will be Ricky Ivey, Scott Kendrick, Micah Carrisoza, Drew Carrisoza, Todd Livingston and Josh Stanford.   Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Ryan Ivey, Reagan Ivey, Myles Kendrick, Mason Kendrick and Kyle Schumpert.   The family would like to thank the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice staff for their kind and delicate care of "Pepaw".   Memorials may be made in Clifton's honor to St. Mark United Methodist Church; 175 Elvis Presley Drive, Tupelo MS 38804.   Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
