    Buster Brooks

    January 6, 1921 - August 2, 2011

    Obituary for Buster Brooks Tupelo - George William"Buster" Brooks, 90, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. He was born January 6, 1921, in Pontotoc County to William Murphy and Mattie Simmons Brooks. Reared in the Oak Hill Community, he lived in Tupelo all of his adult life. He served as a US Navy veteran of World War II. During his working career, he was general manager of Tupelo Products Company for over 50 years. He also was the owner of B & E Antiques. He enjoyed flea markets, selling chimes and knives. He and his wife were avid travelers during their retirement years and active members of the Tombigbee Indians Chapter of the Good Sams RV Club. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Chad Grayson officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Earline Brooks of Tupelo; his daughter, Shelby Jo Cobb (Tommy) of Tupelo; one granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Holland (Bob) of Grenada; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Brooke and Michael Chase Holland. He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, William Murphy Brooks and Delia Hardin Brooks; his mother who died when he was two years old, Mattie Simmons Brooks. Pallbearers will be John Crubaugh, Harold Bradley, Doug Hankins, Ed James, Chase Holland and Bob Holland Honorary Pallbearers will be the Tombigbee Indians Chapter of the Good Sams RV Club. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, 300 N. Church St., Tupelo MS 38804; or The Sanctuary Hospice House, PO Box 2177.
