    Bonnie Smith

    January 14, 1929 - January 20, 2016

    BONNIE SMITH Bonnie Lee Smith, 87, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2016. She was born January 14, 1929 to the late Flynn and Emma Payne in Lee County. Bonnie was a born again Christian who loved Christ and His church, her family, and her pastors.  She was retired from Reed Mfg. Company where she worked as a supervisor and in Quality Control for many years. Bonnie was a member of First Baptist Church of Saltillo for many years and became a member of Saltillo First United Methodist Church in 2009 where she attended with her husband.   Funeral Services will be today at 11:00am at Saltillo First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in the Saltillo Cemetery. She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Jewell Smith of Saltillo; three children, Mike Smith (Peggy) of Saltillo, Gail McKillop (John) of Peachtree City, GA, Mark Smith (Kim) of Saltillo; seven grandchildren, Kerry Slagowitz (Doug) of Orlando, FL, Matt McKillop (Brooke) of Peachtree City, GA,  Jeff McKillop (Stephanie) of Land O Lakes, FL,  Kristen McKillop of Atlanta, GA,  Tyler, Ben and Abbie Katherine Smith of Saltillo, MS; six great-grandchildren, Aaron, Dain and Lake Slagowitz, Rilynn and Jack McKillop and baby Juliet McKillop.  The families would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers for their loving care and support : Pat Ferguson and Barbara Rea. Bonnie is also survived by her brothers, Larry Payne (Frances) of Olive Branch, MS, Ronald Payne (Brenda) of Birmingham Ridge, and Russell Payne (Sara) of Hernando, MS, as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved. Memorials may be made to Saltillo First United Methodist Church, PO Box 146, Saltillo, MS 38866, or Sanctuary Hospice House, PO Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.
