Saltillo - Alma Mae McGarity, 72, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in her home. She was born November 4, 1944 to Tollie and Estelle Taylor in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Alma worked in the retail industry as a manager at Family Dollar and Wal-Mart. Alma enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes and cards, watching her Atlanta Braves, anything University of Alabama and spending time with her family. She was a member of the House of Refuge in Booneville.

Alma is survived by daughter, Missy Kimbrel of Saltillo; step daughter, Kerry Portis (Sylvester) of Olympia Washington; sisters, Sadie Ramsey of Northport, Alabama, Lula Kornegay (Charles) of West Point, Mattie Heritage (Rodney) of Northport, Linda Watkins of Northport and Betty Smith (Walter) of Coker, Alabama; brother, Tollie J. “Rusty” Taylor (Myong) of Columbus; grandchildren, Amanda Stacks of Guntown, Benjamin Kimbrel (Tara) of Baldwyn, Rebekah Bryson (Robbie) of Guntown and Justin Kimbrel of Saltillo; step-granddaughter, Nikki Cleveland (Jon) of Olympia, Washington; nine great-grandchildren, Thomas, Elizabeth, Cameron, Brantley, Taylor, Noah, Tyler, Rodney and Kolton.

Pallbearers will be Charles Kornegay, William Sullivan, Ben Kimbrel, Justin Kimbrel, Waylon Taylor, Charlie Ray Kornegay and Kenneth T. Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray McGarity; grandson, Michael Kimbrel; brothers David and Jimmy B. Taylor; and sister, Geraldine Watkins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Saltillo Chapel with Bro. Ray Sullivan, Bro. Tony Smith and Pastor Michael Williams officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Arbor Springs in Reform, Alabama.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at W. E. Pegues, Saltillo.
